About Rago Brothers Funeral Homes

Serving Cook County and Surrounding Areas

The Original Rago Brothers Funeral Home is proudly family owned and operated by the 3rd, 4th, and 5th generations of our family. Louis H. Rago has been a funeral director for over 50 years, carrying on the tradition that his grandfather began over 100 years ago - providing the caring and dignified service your family deserves in a time of need.  His sons, Joseph L. and Anthony M., start the 4th generation.  Joseph is a licensed funeral director and embalmer for over 30 years, and Anthony manages both funeral home locations, as well as our cemetery & crematory operations at Acacia Park cemetery.  Louis R. and Gabriella Rago, represent the 5th generation of family service, with Louis R. being a 2024 graduate of Worsham College of Mortuary Science, and Gabriella being the Preplanning Specialist.

Because they are independent of any corporate conglomerates that have overwhelmed the industry, Rago Brothers Funeral Home feels they can offer a more caring and personal service at a lower cost. You can count on having at least one member of the Rago family tending to your family during your funeral/cremation arrangements and services. They are also licensed to accept pre-need funds for funeral or cremation services.

Their two locations also offer a contrast between the old and the new. The Rago Brothers’ original location at 624 N. Western (corner of Erie St.) has much of the traditional decor it had when it first opened over 100 years ago. Being only 10 minutes west of downtown Chicago, it also provides a reasonable choice for families in and around the Chicago Loop area. Along with a beautiful chapel setting, this location also features a coffee area for your comfort during services.

The Rago family owned and operated a location at 5120 W. Fullerton, on the near northwest side of Chicago, from 1951 until 1999.

Rago Brothers’ Northwest location, built in 1990, at 7751 W. Irving Park Rd., on the northwest edge of Chicago, has given them the opportunity to conveniently serve many of their loyal families that have moved into the north and west suburbs. This location has also enabled the Rago family to introduce themselves to many new families, since the funeral home is located on the same block as Acacia Park and Irving Park Cemeteries. Some of the Irving Park Road funeral home features include: A parking lot for your convenience, a coffee/kitchen area for use during services, and a room displaying several caskets and urns for your selection while arranging for services. If you are familiar with Rago Brothers Funeral Home but have relocated to a different area, they will be able to conduct a service near you – contact them directly for details.  Let our family take care of yours.
