Timothy
Kowalski
Sep 10, 1950 — May 27, 2026
Timothy Kowalski, age 75, passed away peacefully.
Born in Chicago to Thaddeus and Cecelia Kowalski, Tim grew up on the northwest side of Chicago.
He attended Weber High School, Loyola University, St. Mary of the Lake Seminary, and Worsham College of Mortuary Science.
When he decided to change occupations and enter funeral service in the 1980’s, Worsham College was the obvious choice for him. A few years after graduation, the then owners of the school asked him to join the faculty, and he gladly accepted.
Over 35 years, he influenced generations of young (and not so young) funeral directors and embalmers, while earning endearing nicknames such as Cobra and Special K. He always said teaching at Worsham was rewarding beyond belief.
He had an undergraduate degree in Classical Languages and maintained his interest in Classical literature and history. Art history, especially the art of the Renaissance, was another of his passions, as well as Egyptology. He and his wife Mary Jane were avid travelers, as well as proud “foodies,” spending many a happy hour in the kitchen.
In addition to his beloved wife of 41 years, he is survived by his brother, Thomas (Kathleen), brothers-in-law Joseph (Dee) Schram and John Schram, his nieces Kirsten (Kevin) Finn, Karlye (William) Besenhofer, Julianne Jones, his nephew Jeffrey Schram, as well as great-nieces and great-nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Wounded Warrior Project, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or to a newly established scholarship at Worsham College in Tim’s name would be greatly appreciated.
Requiescat in pace!
