In Loving Memory of Robert John Anhalt

Robert John Anhalt, age 81 of Chicago, Illinois, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2026.

He spent his life known for his kindness, generosity, sense of humor and loving the Chicago Cubs. He touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Although he was retired for over 20 years, he spent his career as a bus operator for the CTA for over 30 years where he was respected for his dedication and commitment. He was a longtime member of St. John's Lutheran Church and during his retirement, he served as a Trustee for the church and school.

Above all, Robert cherished his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Sandra; his children, Robert M. Anhalt, William Anhalt, Christina Kramer (James Kramer) and Cynthia Pope (Richard Pope); step-children, Jeffrey, Todd, Deborah, Kevin and Sarah; grandchildren, Emilo Alcaraz (Grace Alcaraz), Corey Alcaraz, and Giorgio Pope; great-grandchildren, Oliver, Emmy and Ellis Alcaraz; siblings, Fred Anhalt (Helen Anhalt) and Jimmy (Merrilee Anhalt) and many extended family members, and dear friends.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 15, 2026 from 9am - 11am at St. John's Lutheran Church at 4939 W. Montrose Ave. Funeral services will immediately follow visitation with burial to follow at Irving Park Cemetery.

Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in the love he gave and the memories he leaves behind. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
