Michael A. Mitchell, born November 8, 1946, in Chicago, IL, died September 13, 2021. Survived by his wife, Gloria (Crenshaw), sons, Michael P. (Tiana), Mark, James Lampman (Santana), daughter, Michelle. Grandchildren, Robert Lampman, Zac Lampman, Jasmine Mitchell, Michael Jr., Christopher (deceased), Faith Hope (deceased). Brother, Amos (Carol), sister Maureen Ziegler (Robert). Many nieces and nephews.

He proudly served two (2) tours in Vietnam as a Marine, 1967-1971. Michael returned to Chicago and joined the Chicago Police Dept. and served for 32 years. After retirement, he joined the Dept. of Aviation in 2004 and served until his retirement in November 2020.

Michael was a gentle giant with a heart of gold. He gave of himself freely to whoever needed a hand. His motto was a hand up not a handout. He dedicated his life to God, Family and Country. Semper Fi Sir. You have earned your wings and rest.

A Celebration of Life will be scheduled for our Florida family and friends at a date to be determined.
