Mary Ellen McKenna, 69, of Chicago, Illinois, passed away on Wednesday, March 29th, 2023. Born on August 8th, 1953, to Patrick Gerald and Edith Marie [Jandt] McKenna. Mary Ellen was a loving sister, aunt, and friend. She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters Carol McKenna, Barbara Spletzer, and Kathleen Link, and brothers-in-law Alan Spletzer, Adolph Link, William Neurauter, and nephew Thomas Loperena. Mary Ellen is survived and remembered by her sister Joanne (Larry) Pandocchi, brothers Patrick (Patty) McKenna and William (Elizabeth) McKenna, as well as nieces and nephews: Larry (Dayna) Pandocchi, Nicholas (Melissa) Pandocchi, Patrick (Amy) McKenna, Lisa (Jim) Phillips, Nicole McKenna, Taylor McKenna, Alan (Stephanie) Spletzer, Alexis (Kris) Chojnowski, Maureen (Rob) Rimer, Michael (Kathryn) Neurauter, William (Laura) Neurauter, Celeste (Tony) Gonzalez, and T.J. Loperena. She was also the beloved friend of many, including Loretta Loperena and Joan Konwinski. She will be deeply missed by her many great nieces and nephews and her family pets, Cooper, Murphy, and Ditka. Mary Ellen will be remembered for her love of her family, friends, and her ability to make everyone feel special. Her sense of humor and infectious laugh will be greatly missed by all who knew her. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 4th, from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Rago Brothers Funeral Home (7751 W Irving Park Rd). Services will be held in Mary Ellen's honor on, April 5th, at St. Francis (3033 N. Francisco, Chicago, IL 60618) at 11:00 AM. The family asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to The Assistance Fund, a program that provides assistance to patients with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis.
