Carolyn Roberta Heron-Borraccini, MD, 81, passed away on May 16, 2023 at Rush hospital in Chicago, Illinois. Born on December 22, 1941, in Oak Park, IL, she was the daughter of the late E. Laurette (Frederick) Crost and Robert W. Heron and was preceded in death by her sister, Georjean L. Hilko. > Carolyn completed her undergraduate degree in Illinois and then went on to study medicine at the University of Pisa, Italy. After obtaining her medical degree she worked as a physical medicine and rehabilitation physician at various hospitals in the Chicagoland area and volunteered at numerous clinics for uninsured patients teaching medical students. Outside of work, she loved caring for friends and family, dancing, traveling, taking enrichment classes and listening to blues and classical music. > Carolyn is survived by her daughter Cristina (Shane) Borraccini and three grandchildren Aidan, Lucas and Emilia Costelloe. > Carolyn will be buried next to her late husband, Renzo Borraccini, at All Saints Mausoleum in Des Plaines, IL.
