Daughter of Daniel Simon Barrera and Caterina Najera, Alicia Barrera de Sis was born on May 14, 1940 in Guatemala City, Guatemala. Alicia was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister who was admired and adored for her warm and generous spirit. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed going to church and cooking traditional Guatemalan food for family and loved ones, especially tamales. When she wasn't spending time with family, she enjoyed her daytime television and telenovelas on Telemundo or Univision.

Alicia is survived by her daughter, Aiza Violeta Sis de Sarti, and son-in-law, Cesar Augusto Sarti, along with nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her late son, Edwin Efrain Sis, and her oldest child, Byron Renee Sis
