Torricelle A. Johnson

Date of Death:
Saturday, September 23, 2023

On the evening of September 23, 2023, Torricelle Antonio Johnson (also known as “Torrice”, “T-dog”, and “Torrey”) passed away comfortably and peacefully at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.  His daughter and his best friend were by his side. He was only 56 years old.

Torricelle was born in Chicago, IL on November 26, 1966 to Minnie and Charlie Johnson. He grew up in Cabrini Green, but made himself into a person who wasn’t like what you see in the news and on tv. He was respectable, articulate, educated, and an all-around wonderful person, who had made mistakes and learned from them in the process. That’s where his roots are. He spent the better part of his adult years in Granite City, IL working as a laborer, and received much recognition for how much he helped and supported everyone around him. He loved animals, specifically his dog Daisy, which he saved from an abusive home. His favorite color was blue, which was good because his favorite sports teams were the Cubs and the Bears.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Minnie and Charlie Johnson, and some of his siblings. He is survived by his daughter Halley Johnson, his siblings, Phyllis, Patricia, David and Michael and many nieces and nephews. He was a social butterfly who made friends with just about everybody. Although he and his daughter’s mother, Ceslie Ousley, were not together, they shared so much love for each other. They were each other's support systems and best friend. A special recognition for Jefferson Green for always being there when Torricelle needed him and for doing everything he could to make sure he was taken care of, even in very difficult times. His goals in life were to keep himself straight and be a good father, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. We can all say he achieved these goals.
