Socorro Burgos

After a brave battle with cancer, Socorro Burgos was called home on Friday August 25th, 2023. She was born in Orange Walk Town, Belize June 27, 1959 to Ruthilia Gongora and Oscar Ayuso. 

 
 
Socorro is survived by her husband, Eli Burgos, her children Ariel (Lakhsmi) Santana, Magali Santana, Alvaro (Felicia) Santana, Christine (Carlos) Pineda, Madelyn (Wesley) Tann, Maritza (Marvin) Branch, grandchildren Eli Santana, Ariel Santana, Anahi Alonzo, Jonathan Santana, Nathaniel Harris, Cynthia Pineda, Candace Pineda, Jackie Tann, Keenan Branch, Donovan Branch, her siblings Melida Gongora, Omar Wildman, Alvaro (Celina) Marin, Gloria Marin, multiple nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends who love her dearly. 
 
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ruthilia Gongora, Oscar Ayuso, Anastacio Marin, her sister Neria Leiva, and Estanislau Santana. 
 
Socorro was a devoted Catholic, serving as a minister at St Bartholomew in Chicago for many years. She was the most positive, vibrant, loving and caring person, and improved every life she touched. She had a great sense of humor, always the life of the party, and loved dancing, celebrating, planning events, and showing her creativity through decorating and coloring books.  
 
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking to please make a donation to the American Cancer Society in Socorro's honor. 
 
There will be a service in Orange Walk Town, Belize at a later date.
