Rev. Michael E. Danek, C.R. died on Monday, May 18, 2015 at Presence Resurrection Hospital at the age of 56.
Father Michael, a graduate of St. Hyacinth School and Archbishop Weber High School, entered the Congregation of the Resurrection and professed first vows in May of 1980. He earned undergraduate and graduate degrees from St. Louis University and the Aquinas Institute of Theology, both in St. Louis. He was ordained to the priesthood on April 12, 1986 at St Hyacinth Basilica.
His ministries included service at Archbishop Weber High School and the parishes of St Hedwig, St Hyacinth, and St Wenceslaus in Chicago, as well as, St Christopher in Las Vegas. Most recently, he was Pastor at Holy Trinity in Westmont, Illinois. For six years, Father Michael was the provincial superior of the USA Province of the Congregation of the Resurrection.
He is survived by his two sisters Kathleen and Denise. His parents, +Edward and +Mira,
preceded him in death. Good friends Jim Castellano and Salomea Sciborski ministered to
him in his final days. He was surrounded by his brother Resurrectionists in the hours before his peaceful death.
The wake will be on Friday, May 22 at Holy Trinity Parish in Westmont, Illinois from 3:00 – 9:00 p.m. with a wake service at 7:00 p.m. The wake will continue on Saturday with viewing from 9:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. with the funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. Burial will take place at St. Adalbert Cemetery in Niles.
