Michele Angeline Longo-Baratta, born on January 5, 1954, in Chicago, IL, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2025, in her beloved hometown. A devoted widow of Anthony J. Baratta, Michele cherished the memories they created together throughout their life.

Known affectionately as Misch, Aunt Shell, Auntie Misch, and Grandma Michele, she found immense joy in her role as a grandmother to Nicholas James and Frankie Michael. Her grandchildren, aged 17 and 16 respectively, were the light of her life, and she took great pride in watching them grow.

A faithful Catholic, Michele's spirit and love for her family will be remembered by all who knew her. She will be missed dearly but cherished in the hearts of her family and friends.

I sat across from Michele for 8 years working in the disability dept. She called me Share b/c it was too much to say my name. As a matter of fact she was good at shortening your name, lol. When we left the dept I told her I will miss our many conversations and many laughs. She always kept an eye out on my desk when I was oir of the office and made sure she told me who came to my desk while she watched like security. Michele you will be missed, you had a good heart and kind spirit. Rest in Peace

I don't know where to begin other than to say that I was sad to hear this news. Longo and I worked together for many years and developed a pretty cool bond. Amongst work we would talk about her family, grandsons, her son and daughter in love and how much she adored them. Funny thing is I'm not a fan of nicknames but Longo decided to give me one, Nic. I obliged only because, I know it was coming from a good place. From her laugh, her smile and that edgy haircut that she wore so well. You will be missed. Rest Well, Longo.

I had the pleasure of working with Michele for years. I sat in the diagonally from her. Her nickname for me was Kare. We always talked about her grands and nail. She was a lot of fun. I’m saddened to hear of her passing. I pray God’s strength and condolences to her family.

I worked with Michele at Chase and she always tried to enjoy her day and always was good for a deep conversation or a laugh. We had three Michele’s so we always called each other by our last names. We were the three amigas. Longo, Baldwin, and Hickey . And she was never was shy to be involved in a little mischief. Michele lived true to herself. She loved her family deeply and spoke of them often especially her grandson’s!

Auntie Shell was my mom's best friend. She's been in my life since I was a little girl. She was always there to give me advice when I needed it. She helped my mom and my family through the loss of my father. I'm not sure my mom would have gotten through that if she didn't have the support of her amazing best friend. She is my daughter Gianna's confirmation Godmother I'm so glad they got to share that special day. We were so Sad when she left back home to Chicago, but we knew how much her family meant to her and she needed to move back home to be close to her son, daughter-in-law, and grandsons. She will be missed so much. Our hearts are broken. Nic, if you read this just know your mom loved you, and your family so much. She was so proud of you, and she will be with you always.
