Juan Javier Lozada Jr. (“Javi”)
August 20, 1997 – April 16, 2025

With broken hearts and enduring love, we announce the passing of Juan Javier Lozada Jr.—known to all as Javi—on April 16, 2025. Born on August 20, 1997, Javi lived a life full of laughter, creativity, and deep love for his family and friends. He was 27 years young.

Javi was the beloved son of Juan Javier Lozada and Katherine Lozada (née Soto), and the big brother to Keila J. Lozada and Ivan J. Lozada. A graduate of Fenton High School’s Class of 2015, Javi first lit up the stage in “Romeo and Winifred” and went on to appear in Chicago Fire, Empire and The Teacher.

He was the family’s comedian, a master of the low-brow joke, and always committed to the bit if it meant getting a good laugh. He loved dancing, karaoke (especially “Bohemian Rhapsody”), and lighting up every gathering with joy.

Javi’s adventurous spirit took him across Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, New York, Las Vegas, New Orleans, Los Angeles, Virginia Beach, and all throughout the Virgin Islands. Wherever he went, his laughter followed.

He is survived by his parents, siblings, and a large extended family of cousins and dear friends who were with him in his final moments.

In his final act of generosity, Javi gave the gift of life as an organ donor—leaving a legacy of love and selflessness. Though he was declared brain-dead on April 13, Javi remained with us until April 16, when his first organ was donated, marking the beginning of the lives he helped save.

Javi will forever be remembered for his humor, light-heartedness, and joyful spirit. His laughter echoes in our hearts, always.

Juan Javier Lozada Jr. (“Javi”)

The Penkava/Smith Family
Kind, loving, charming, clever, hilarious, talented...just a few of the words that describe Javi. Our family first saw him on the Fenton stage. To the family, he became "the handsome kid"...he really got a kick out of that. He was one of the only kids who made Bea feel welcome in theatre, something she still values to this day. A few years later, we were lucky enough to get to know Javi and learn just how wonderful he really was. We are so grateful to have had four years of laughs, tears, jokes, songs, dances, performances, and love. Even though we lost touch, our family has always kept him in our thoughts, missed him, and have been rooting for him. We missed the light he brought to every holiday, birthday, and family celebration. He really was the life of the party. We may not have seen each other in a while, but the memories and love will remain forever. We want to extend our heartfelt sympathies to the Lozada family. We wish you comfort and strength in this time of unbearable grief. Rest easy, sweet Javi.
