Faye J. DeShazo

Date of Death:
Saturday, April 1, 2023

Faye June DeShazo was born on March 13th, of 1938 in Birmingham, Alabama. She was baptized at Galilee Baptist Church and continued her faith from there. She was brilliant in her completion of studies at Parker High, and with confidence began her legacy. Faye found love during her success and married Mr. James Threatt in 1957. He was the step father to her only child; Doris. With time, their union came to closure yet ignited a wonderful harmony with each of their loved ones and closest friends. Faye’s daughter has cherished this history from the beginning. During 1965, Faye and Doris relocated to Chicago to be closer with family. Faye attended Midway Technical Institute of Chicago and Loop Jr College while raising her daughter, and worked at United States Fidelity Guarantee and Company. Her determination, resilience, and authenticity landed her a position at World Book Encyclopedia in Chicago’s legendary Merchandise Mart. She succeeded there for twenty-five years. These moments in her life were the foundation of her grandchildren’s understanding that anything can be accomplished. After understanding her passion to love, nurture and inspire her surroundings… Faye pursued a career in healthcare and became a Certified Nurses Assistant. For sixteen years, she dedicated her life to the well being of her patients at Saint Joseph Nursing Home of Chicago. She simultaneously worked part-time at Imperial Assisted Living. She recognized her residents as family with the intention to be the light during anyone’s trials. During the winter of 2010 while giving her all, Faye experienced a paralyzing stroke. Her family near and far, accepted this challenge with her just as she did for so many others. Her daughter Doris, relocated Faye, to be closer with family, right at home. Faye enjoyed a life full of love, travels, and comfort. She loved visiting her Aunt Doris in Milwaukee, and hanging out with her grandchildren. Ms. DeShazo transitioned during the sunrise of April 1st, 2023 at eighty-five years of life. Faye is to reunite with her daughter Doris DeShazo-Beatrie, son in law David J. Beatrie, grandsons Chaise M. Beatrie and Corbin E. Beatrie, her Aunts Doris Summerville and Nickolean DeShazo, and a special sister in law Katherine Jones. Faye’s light will continue to shine upon and through us all from Heaven
