Carmen Gloria DeLeon

Birth Date:
Wednesday, May 7, 1947
Date of Death:
Thursday, January 8, 2026

Carmen Gloria DeLeon, born on May 7, 1947, in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, went to her eternal home with our Heavenly Father and King Jesus on January 8, 2026, in Chicago, Illinois, due to health complications. She was the beloved daughter of Margarita Valentin (†).

Carmen was affectionately known as a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her journey on this earth was marked by love, compassion, and an unwavering faith in God. Her passing has left a profound void in the hearts of her family, friends, and the many lives she touched. We ask that she be remembered for the deep and lasting impact she had on all who were blessed to know her.

Carmen is survived by her loving children: Gloria and Juan Glarza (son-in-law), Mary and Efrain Oliva (son-in-law), Zandra Colon, William and Jackie Colon (daughter-in-law), Melissa and Jeff Escue (son-in-law), and Katie DeLeon. She is also survived by her two sisters, Alida Otero and Rosa Valentin. Carmen leaves behind 19 cherished grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, all of whom loved and adored her dearly.
Those who knew Carmen will remember her tenderness, her sense of purpose, and her deep-rooted faith in Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior. She touched everyone with her love, kindness, gentle spirit, warm touch, and her cafĂ© con leche (Puerto Rican coffee). Carmen was committed to spreading love and kindness to everyone she encountered.

Though Carmen is no longer with us in body, her spirit will continue to inspire and uplift all who knew her. May her memory be a blessing, and may we carry forward her legacy of love, compassion, courage, and faith in Christ in all that we do. As she continues to worship Jesus in heaven, her light will forever shine brightly in our hearts.
