Arthur Norman Nasser, age 95, of Chicago passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 10, 2023, surrounded by his loved ones after suffering a brief illness. Arthur was born in Rochester, NY, to Najeeb "James" and Josephine Smaha Nasser. Arthur was a 1946 graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School in Rochester NY, where he was a star quarterback which earned him an athletic scholarship to Canisius College, Buffalo, NY, where he graduated in 1952. Prior to college, Arthur served in the United States Navy, where he was known for his exceptional cooking skills, earned a World War II Victory Medal and was Honorably Discharged in 1948.

A veteran tax attorney, who graduated from Georgetown Law School in 1955, entered the American Bar Association in 1956, Arthur was well known as someone who often provided his services pro bono and for his elegance in and out of the courtroom. He was a fierce advocate for taxpayers' rights. After more than six decades of practicing law, including up until his death, he earned a colorful reputation and was once known to many as "Mr. Chicago."

In addition to his parents, Arthur was preceded in death by his sister Gloria Nasser Young (William), brother James "Samuel" Nasser and brother-in-law Albert Thomas Summers. He is survived by his sister, Dolores Nasser Summers of McLean, VA and sister-in-law, Catherine Nasser of Laguna Niguel, CA. A man who adored his family, Uncle "Artie" is also survived by his nieces and nephews: Father William Young, Roxanne Young, Marc Nasser (Cheryl), Anthony James "A.J." Nasser, Thomas James "T.J." Summers (Faria), Gabrielle T. Summers (Imre Eszenyi); grand nieces and nephews, Samuel and Ava Eszenyi, Laylee, Nayla, Ellya, and Mateen Summers.

A Mass commemorating Arthur's life will be held Thursday, June 15, 2023, 10:30am at Holy Name Cathedral, 730 Wabash Avenue, Chicago.

The family would like to express their deep gratitude to the staff at 110 East Delaware Place, Kathy Eagle, Mr. Vince Mason and Mr. Nicholas Pecora for all their love, support and acts of kindness shown to Arthur over the years. Special thanks to the Neurology Department at Northwestern Memorial Hospital who provided exceptional care to Arthur.

North Avenue, Northlake, IL 60164) or Holy Name Cathedral, Chicago.
