Carmen Talavera Vazquez
Dearest Tio Tony, As I write this letter to you, the words feel heavy, like stones resting in my chest. Isn't that strange? We were without you for forty years, leaving a void in our family's intricate web of memories and sorrow. Then all of a sudden, you returned, adding a bright pop of color to the otherwise muted background of our lives. Oh, Tio, how I love your smile! The shadows of our loss were chased away by the warmth and comfort of the sun shining through the clouds. We were complete again, a family. Now, you're gone again, Tio. This time, it feels different. Not the raw, gaping wound of your first departure, but a bittersweet ache, a gentle acceptance. You've returned home, they say, to the arms of God. And while the questions still linger, the "whys" that dance on the edges of our tears, there's a flicker of peace too. We were blessed, Tio, truly blessed, to have you back, even for a fleeting while. Your presence, like a shooting star, streaked across our lives, leaving a trail of wonder and warmth. We'll carry that warmth with us, Tio, a tiny ember to light the way through the darkness. We'll never know why you left us the first time, Tio. But we know why you came back. It was love, pure and unadulterated, that drew you back to us, the same love that now sends you back to your eternal rest. Rest in peace, Tio Tony. We love you, always and forever. Until we meet again, in the tapestry of memories and dreams, With all our love, Your family (Talavera)
